Frequently Asked Questions
I’ve compiled a list of my most commonly asked questions here!
Q: Can I buy gift certificates?
A: Yes – I only sell them in-person at this time. You can arrange a time to meet me at my office to purchase them by calling or texting me at 515-346-8775.
Q: How often should I get a massage?
A: This answers depends on your goals, your availability and your budget, among other factors. My recommendation is if you have a more severe acute or chronic issue you’d like to work on, we see each other more frequently, and then begin to space your visits out to your ideal “maintenance frequency”. A maintenance frequency is your preferred regular routine for massage. Most of my clients choose to come in routinely between every 2-4 weeks.
Q: Am I supposed to tip?
A: Tipping is customary in the massage industry. It is not a requirement, but is always appreciated.
Q: Do you offer any discounts?
A: If you are in need of assistance to afford care, let me know you’re interested in my “Relief Rate” by adding a note in your intake form before your appointment. I offer 15% off my services to those who need it, no questions asked. Also, remember that tipping is not a requirement for services.
Q: Am I supposed to talk during my massage, or stay quiet?
A: It’s totally up to you! Some people prefer to remain quiet to use this time to meditate and/or really focus on the sensations and connect with their bodies. Some folks enjoy chatting the whole time, and I’m happy to chat with you. I’m pretty good at recognizing whether my clients are in the mood to chat or not, and I let my clients take the lead with that.
Q: Do I need to remove all my clothing?
A: You only remove the clothing you feel comfortable removing. You will not have any of your private areas exposed, as we keep you covered and undrape only the area of your body that we’re working on. If you want to leave all your clothing on, that’s ok too! There’s actually a lot of techniques we can still do fully clothed. My personal recommendation is that you remove all your clothing, including your underwear. If you leave your underwear on just be sure you’re wearing a pair that you may not mind getting oil onto.
